loginThis book owes a great deal to many people. Its origins go back manyyears to when I was a graduate student at McGill and was first exposed toarguments for the androcentricity of philosophy, which led to stimulatingdiscussions with teachers and friends. I am especially grateful to FriedaForman, who first introduced me to the literature and helped me under-stand some difficult issues. Her passion for the subject, and for philoso-phizing in general, has influenced this book in numerous ways.
