loginAs many readers will recognize, the title of this book is taken from Bertrand Russell, who finished the lectures published as Our Knowledge of the External World in the spring of 1914—just a few months before the Great War began. I finished this book just after (as it appears right now) a great cold war is beginning to end. It is obvious that the philosophical scene has changed as much since that time as the political one.
